knock a little louder, sugar
So here's the thing about me. I like to jump on bandwagons, but usually only way after the band wagon has departed, and I have to run after it, waving my arms frantically and then maybe I catch up and some kind soul has to help me on and I'm out of breath and wow this metaphor *definitely* got way the hell away from me, didn't it?

The point of this is: I'm stealing hackthis's idea of asking all y'all who read me to leave a comment, say what's up, wave, whatever. Tell me why you're here, tell me your favorite color, what your opinion of mayonaisse is, what your favorite baseball team is if you're from the US and you know, feel free to make one up if you're not *G*. Talk to me about the Crocodile Hunter and Iron Chef and just generally introduce yourselves.

To get the ball rolling: Hi, I'm Nifra. I like comic books and cigarettes and coffee and cheese (those all start with c....how strange...). I'm an undergraduate student at a college in New York state studying *gasp* creative writing (read: will starve in streets of big city when I graduate). I've managed to share a brain with a very, very neurotic Clark Kent ever since watching my first Smallville epi, wish that I lived in Hobbiton because *dude* round doors, lots of food and pipeweed, and would be willing to drywall for a living if I could work for/stare at/stalk/drool over Xander Harris. I listen to music loudly and Quizilla tells me that if I were to be a dysfunctional care bear, I'd be Hooligan Bear.

So, make some noise!

Okay, I shall play.

I am Madelyn. I too am a college student, majoring in both English and Political Science. Not sure what I'm doing with the first one anymore and I have ended up with a history minor because they were the only classes open by the time I had been allowed to register each semester. It's worked out surprisingly well.

Moving right along...

I'm in Wisconsin, which means that I have access to some pretty kick-ass cheese...

*stares up at yet another comment she never foresaw herself leaving in another blog*

Um...yes. I too enjoy cheese, I make a mean fondue, and cheesecake (are you in love with me just yet?) Another c-word I enjoy is chocolate, and you really haven't studied for an all nighter properly until you've eaten chocolate covered coffee beans. *nods knowingly* They take getting used to sometimes, but they are *deadly*.

Hmm. I need something fandom-y to say now: I read both the badfic and the goodfic and embrace them both wholeheartedly, though I'm glad to say yours falls in the latter category and that would be why I'm here. :D

*has made enough noise now*
pure FORESHADOWINGnifra_idril on September 17th, 2003 04:47 am (UTC)
Lol! Ain't no such thing as too much noise darling...and yes, yes I am madly in love with you if you can make cheesecake. CHEESECAKE! Good *god* woman...if I could make cheesecake I'd probably be like nine hundred pounds because I'd just make it and eat it every day for every meal.

And chocolate covered coffee beans must be what they mean whey they say ambrosia. Some people will try to tell you that they mean something fruity or honeyish, but don't let them fool you -it's java and chocolate all the way...

Anyway! *waves* Welcome - and am muchly glad you like my fic. *bounces*

Celli: laughcelli on September 17th, 2003 04:52 am (UTC)
*shakes your hand* Hi. Celli. Nice to meet you!

I like romance novels and Mt. Dew and chocolate. I'm an ex-smoker, or possibly a recovering smoker considering the number of relapses I've had. I've never been to New York. I like mayonnaise, which is probably a bad thing, overall. I am caretaker to two cats, a misogynistic parrot, and a plant that I think my father loves more than me. I hate doing dishes and I just remembered I left a load of laundry in the washer. Shit. I am lucky enough to have two twins, and am the oldest of four, five, or nine, depending on how you look at it.

Um, I love writing, in case you hadn't noticed, and pretty much live for it. I'm getting a graduate degree as a roundabout way of financing my accounting career, and the accounting career is a roundabout way of financing my writing career. Much to my surprise, I fell in love with accounting along the way. Wish I could say the same for college.

Yeah, that's pretty much me. :)
pure FORESHADOWINGnifra_idril on September 17th, 2003 04:55 am (UTC)
Lol - Laundry *sucks*. Like, a lot, more than I can express, even. I hate doing it so much that I pitch a fit every time I have to. Thusly, let me express my deepest condolences about your laundry problem.

You've got to come up to New York, babe. Maybe your ex-smokerness will rub off on me? *looks hopeful*

Probably not. Dammit.

I love *your* writing, by the way, and accounting? Someone's got to do it, and I'm glad you love it and that the someone who has to do it isn't me. *nods vehemently*

Hmm. All righty, then. I like coffee and cheese and comic books, too. I haven't been a college student for a long, long time -- possibly longer than you've been alive. I friended you because I like following along in "Deeper Season," which is an extremely nifty story, IMO.

Um, hi! I'm Jessica, and I am a perpetual lurker all over the fandom. I'm in the corner of it all. I'm not in college, although I was for about a year. I'm unemployed right now, because I got laid off about 3 weeks ago. I like loud rock music, all things Buffy, Angel & Smallville, making websites, and I too am a "recovering smoker", because you all got me thinking. I can't really be an ex-smoker if I keep smoking once in a while, huh? *sigh*

Well, I friended you because I stumbled across A Deeper Season and fell in love. Love I tell you! It's pure and true and I sit here waiting for more parts!

And? I decided I needed new friends. Yay you!

Yay me, indeed - hey there! So glad you're enjoying ADS - god. I never thought it would end up being this long - chapter seven? 27 pages or so, and that's not as long as some of the others...*shakes head* But glad you enjoy it, long winded as it may be.

And recovering smoker? Not me. Oh no, I'm only a semi-apologetic perpetual smoker. *blows smoke ring to demonstrate*

Hi. My name is slod. I'm here because you like Smallville, and you're a downright hoot to chat with. My favorite color is either silver or dark blue. I enjoy mayonaisse when applied to certain sandwiches, especially when combined with mustard, but not so much when it's sitting in the fridge with the egg parts and the oily parts all separated-like. I'm not terribly into baseball (though I did root for the D-Backs when I lived in Phoenix), but I really enjoy watching college football. I live in northern Indiana, so it's pretty much law that I root for Notre Dame. I don't know much about the Crocodile Hunter, but I enjoy Australian accents. And, finally, I've never seen the Iron Chef.

Whew! Anything else you'd like to know, just ask. *g*

I friended you because I read one of your stories on SSA and had to know if you had a LJ and scoured around until I found you. Writing is my passion and I love to read the journals of other writers. Hi Nifra,

I'm Anne and I found your journal via someone else's LJ. I am a somewhat new SV fan, having discovered it in February of this year. I am reading A Deeper Season but haven't finished the most recent chapter yet. I really enjoy your writing.

I've been in slash since 2001 and my first ``boys" were Toby and Chris from Oz. I still write them.

My favorite color is yellow. *g*

I adore Chris. Really, really, really *really* adore Chris -- and Toby's awesome, too, but Chris is the one that gets me every time. I'm not sure why, or what it is about him. I also love Schillinger from Oz, and here's why: he's one of the most interesting villains I've seen on TV, and I feel weird labeling him as a villain actually. Because he is a *terrible* human being, but there are so many bad guys on that show...

Okay, will stop rambling. *G* Glad you like my stories, and yay Oz!

Hi, I'm Hope. I read you because you wrote a story I really liked, and the whole grasping to be OTP with Lyra_Sena was cute. ;) My favorite color is forest green, I think mayo is NASTY, my favorite baseball team is the Baltimore Orioles. Crikey, that crocodile huntah gets on my nuhvs! Unless a friend is imitating him, and then I think he's a blooming GEEENyus! Iron Chef rocks. What kind of cigarettes?
pure FORESHADOWINGnifra_idril on September 17th, 2003 05:34 pm (UTC)
Kamel Reds, and occasionally Nat Sherman mints - but only when I'm feeling classy. (Which, being a poor college kid, isn't terribly often.) I really kind of want to get one of those thirties cigarette holders; I feel like it would be a way to make my smoking more acceptable to family and friends.

Iron chef *does* rock; Sakai's my favorite. He's always saying things like "I've never cooked with this before. We'll see how it works out" and then pulling these genius concoctions out of his sleeves.

And you? What kind of cigs do you smoke? *G*
Aelita: whipaelita on September 17th, 2003 01:25 pm (UTC)
Hi, I'm Aelita and I'm not as scary as people tend to believe. *g* Just ask tstar78. I like writing but I like reading good fic better, which brings us to the reason I friended you. I came for the fics, but I stay and enjoy pretty much everything you post. Plus you have good taste in graphic novels. *g* I currently reside in NY, the city of best cheesecakes in the world. Oh, damn. Now you know my biggest weakness. I do love cheese and never go without having at least five kinds in my fridge. And don't even mention coffee in front of me unless you have a cup you're willing to give up. Though I prefer making my coffee the old-fashioned way. Finely grinded Italian or Turkish arabica made in turka on stovetop.
pure FORESHADOWINGnifra_idril on September 17th, 2003 05:36 pm (UTC)
*holds out coffee cup, while greedily gulping her own*

I think it says something about me that the idea of making coffee on a stovetop totally sent me into a tailspin. I sat here and tried to figure it out, and couldn't, and as reassurance I went and made some with my automatic machine. *pets coffee maker*

And mmmm....cheesecake....

Hi, I'm Taskir. I'm in my second year of Massage Therapy at a small technical college in Minnesota. I also work forty-to-fifty hours a week between two separate jobs, so I am often busy and often tired.
My taste in music, movies, books, and television is wide-ranging and somewhat eclectic. I used to be called eccentric, but now I welcome the title of weird. :)
I try to write both fanfic and original fiction, but I'm not so great at either. The problem is that I enjoy it, so therefore I have an LJ and a DLand page to inflict other unsuspecting people on the planet with my lack of originality and talent. For other aspects of this 'love-to-but-not-good-at-it' problem, See also: Karaoke.
As an offshoot of both the fic writing and years of role-playing, I have many different people living in my head. Usually we all get along fine, but it's difficult when you have very little money and your Inner Gay Men want to take you shopping.
I have an odd sense of humor. I'm often sarcastic or teasing. Sometimes people don't get that. I'm a Sagittarius, so I also have problems with my tact or lack thereof.

I friended you because I was looking for other stories written for isagel's e.e.cummings challenge, and thought your entry was lovely. Plus, when I ran the '50 Best Non-Friends' thingy, your name was on the list.

Hi... I'm, well fuck - I hate my username and am probably going to change it, despite the $15 - but in the mean time, I'm Terps. I was lured to your LJ by A Deeper Season but enjoy reading all your posts.

I live in South Georgia (so, I have no RL Fans to hang with *sob*) and I am a teacher - I teach computer to Elementary kids.

I am a Braves fan, natch. I've been assured on more than one occasion that I am a royal bitch, which bothers me not at all. I will natter on about a multitude of subjects until all hours or until told to shut up - including my desire to lick MR's scalp and my freakish love of bald/balding men (which predates MR).

If I could have, I would have remained a college student for the rest of my life.

My favorite color is green. And, despite my teacher-salary poverty, I have a housekeeper. Only because she was my Mom's housekeeper the entire time I was growing up and she might as well be my Mother too. And she is convinced that I am completely unable to take care of myself and so she shows up once a week to make sure I haven't killed the house or fucked up in some way...

Greetings, I'm Teri. I'm on LJ because I've found it's the easiest way to stalk all the talented writers in the SV fandom. Here particularly because you write like an angel. Favorite color is orchid, and mayonaise is very bad for you, a waste of good eggs if truth be told. I do not follow baseball or other organized sports, viewing them as just slightly above organized religion as a painful way to waste time and promote... information starvation. I don't watch television very much, mostly due to a lack of time, but even more because of the lack of anything watchable. Basically I'm a Smallville, Qe, WWing, kinda girl. I'm 56% masculine according to that thing going around, and I'm a full time business professional who only occassionally wants to flay the skin off her immediate manager. From there it gets kinda boring.

Keeping writing. You're a jewel.

Hi, my name is Gary, and I read your fic because it's so well-written. I've truly enjoyed your various stories, and want to see more of them! You have a talent for this stuff!

Although I've been a life-long Superman fan, the biggest reason I watch the show is Tom Welling. He's got a mouth & build that's just MADE for Gay Porn. Since they won't show that on TV, I depend upon the kindness of fanfic writers to keep me going.

I'm your standard-issue guy. I don't understand women, even though I've been married 8 years. I like pizza, live sporting events (TV ruins it) and off-road activities. I'm a telecommunications engineer to pay the bills.

I have a major addiction to coffee. Music of all varieties can be heard on the CD players, although this week the tunes have been old & new Johnny Cash. I'm very opinionated, and mostly right - more often than my wife admits. I love to drive, but I hate to follow anyone. Consequently, stay outta my way.

Hi, my name is Kim. I first came to your wilderness on the trail of "A Deeper Season," led here by a link in celli's journal, and have since recommended it myself a number of times. Because ADS and the rest of your writing is of such an addictive and hot amazing, vibrant, high quality nature, and because you seem interesting, smart, and funny, I've remained -- attached, not as a liaison so much, but more as an avid reader and silly fangirl. And if you aren't familiar with due SOUTH, the spoofishness of what I just said won't really make sense to you, but oh, well. *g*

I'm an agnostic, pacifistic member of the Green party and am active in all sorts of causes. I write poetry, both good and bad. Any food that contains cheese, chocolate, or garlic would be improved by adding more of the same. I'm a bit of a fannish crackwhore. I love animals and books and morning glories, especially when they're blue -- er, just the morning glories, not necessarily the animals or books. Blue is my favorite color, but, dude, there are limits. Okay, except when it comes to the Muppets. Ahem. I'm not really into sports, but I get a kick out of watching hockey games. Mayo is good on sandwiches (provided they don't also have peanut butter, any form of fruit, or cream cheese on them) and sometimes as a very minimal dip for fries; I rarely use ketchup for anything other than hot dogs (of the turkey or soy variety). Also, this is pretty much unrelated to anything else, but I want to live in Canada someday.
