This fic is absolutely exquisite. Just gorgeous. I got here via a rec page, I'm not even sure which one, but oh... they were SO right to rec it. Man. This is being so memorized.

In case you're wondering why I'm a year late, I JUST got into Smallville. Caught a few repeats and got sucked into the Clex-Love.

I love this... you've left me speechless. Amazing writing, I loved the email parts to death. Such honesty, heartbreaking almost, and because of that I really didn't expect a happy ending... though when I got one (though you could say it's more hopeful than happy) I liked this even better. Seriously, amazing.

Oh damn! I can't believe I've forgotten how much I love Clark/Lex, thank you for reminding me.

Beautiful fic, I loved it. Their voices were perfect, I could see them. Clark agonizing over the letter and Lex writing the letter, taking little sips of whiskey every now and then. And the ending! Very well done.

A world of gah! and other things that are beyond my spelling capability right now!

And I loved that while reading this, and reading Lex's letter I actually heard his voice kick in.

Thank you!

Yes, yes, yes! Perfect. I love the way you break up the letter over the course of the story, teasing it out as you detail Clark's response to it.

“I was seventeen! Everyone’s self-centered when they’re seventeen!”
Ain't that the truth.

it’s pretty neat to find himself suddenly in the same category as Angelina Jolie for sexual appeal. Lex is probably the only person on the face of the earth who thinks so, but it still makes Clark feel good.
Lex is definitely not the only one.

His jaw clamps shut, and he’s suddenly across the hallway, looking fierce, his face a breath away and when he speaks, it’s with a growl. “If you’re here for – this had better be everything, Clark. I can’t take less from you. It’s all or nothing, *we* are and if – ”

Clark reaches out, and captures Lex’s hands in his own. “Hey,” he says gently, leaning in. “I feel like that all the time too, Lex.”

Lex’s eyes search Clark’s expression for a split second, and then his hands are in Clark’s hair, pulling his face down, biting kisses onto his mouth, and Clark closes his eyes and gives himself to this, to Lex. To what they might have, if both of them aren’t too afraid of it.

Yes. Just... yes. Wonderful.

Absolutely wonderful story. I loved everything, from Clark manically talking to the letter to searching for an answer from a shampoo bottle to Lex's drunken honesty and how the contents of the letter were revealed through the course of the narrative. The tension between them when Lex answered the door was palpable, a living thing that crawled in my chest, put there because of the building anticipation through the rest of the story, not because you, the writer, told me it was there or elaborated what didn't need elaboration. My only qualm would be the ending, with the last paragraph. It just ends kind of easily, which wouldn't be bad with a lower quality story, but from this one I expected something a little more. But this isn't an entirely bad thing and I have a feeling that I will reread this story often.

I haven't even watched SV since the first season, but this was SO worth reading. It made me happy without even really knowing these people. Thank you.

The hopeful future is my favorite Smallville thing. I like your story and its structure and I like Clark very much.

Oh, I don't think I had ever read this before TFV recced it this morning, and this is just lovely and happy making and yay.

Wow. I loved reading this. I really liked the way you wove the e-mail through the story, and how Clark responds to each part individually. Great job!
