The yin yang of essential desire, or I Want Lobster, Please Feed Me.
I honestly believe that instead of wasting time trying to invent a more ergonomic water bottle, the world should be putting all of its effort into giving me telekinesis. I like to imagine that the people who are making tomatoes perfectly round and kind of tasteless could, instead, be cultivating some kind of magic berry that I could turn into juice and drink like one of the Gummi Bears on TV, and instead of being able to bounce, I could close my eyes, and murmur, "Come to me left over dinner. Come to me arranged on a plate in an aesthetically pleasing fashion, with a fork, a knife and appropriate beverage." And lo, it would appear. Also, maybe I could have theme music.

If only I knew Rodney McKay. And he was real. And kind of a botanist/wizard. Although something about that sentence has me immediately contemplating the possibility of Rodney/Neville, but when I say contemplate, I really mean that I'm thinking, "You know, hackthis will, someday, write that."

Furthermore: ergonomic wtf? I mean, but really. Get back to me on that one.

Boomer, RIP. Wherethefuck is Caprica!Boomer? Why is she not around? Come back, Caprica!Boomer? But how beautiful is Grace Park? And how absolutely fantastic was she with Chief? And Chief, oh GOD, Chief!!! *loves*

Billy is, I think, the single most reasonable and honorable and selfless character on that show. Billy is number one. Billy and Chief should be taken to a desert island where they could live in the sun and have beers brought to them by slave girls and could just chill out and not worry about everything. There's this part of me that wants for there to be Billy/Chief, but that part of me is a wrong part. I understand that. I mean, I totally do.

When Six watched Baltar and Starbuck have sex at the end of last season, that's when I really realized that what they had was a relationship, and not just Baltar hallucinating sex or what have you. Whether she's real or not, they're in a relationship -- and isn't that just the strangest thing to say? But it's entirely true, and this season really is running with that in a way that I absolutely love. Her comments about racism and 'your child will be half toaster'. Her emotions, for all her attempts to deny them, are all the more intense and she's savage in her fierce relationshipness with Baltar. And I absolutely love it.

Oh, hi. Speaking of relationships: Helo, how is it that you're just totally fine with Caprica!Boomer not being around with your baby anymore? I'm sorry. But wtf, man? I was all like, in love with you for how much you loved her. Now you're all blithely without her? I want my Helo/Boomer back. I want it now.

How much do I love that the head guy of the people Starbuck and Helo met on Caprica is a freakishly good stand in for Apollo? I mean, the hair cut, the eyebrows. Obviously she'll sleep with him and everything, but oh, how I love my Starbuck/Apollo. Even if it is kind of....seven degrees of sleeping together. Although, I mean, I could totally see them doing that. And if I could still write, I'd totally write that.

Apollo and Zarek continue to have one of the more interesting interactions on the show. I think Apollo sees, which I think is becoming increasingly clear, that while Zarek is taking advantage of the destabalized situation to further his own interests, he's made himself the sketchy mouthpiece for an entirely valid point of view. I think that Apollo is stepping up to become the legit mouthpiece of that POV, and hi. How much do I love that when Starbuck comes back, Apollo is going to be fighting on the opposite side of her, kind of? That is, if she's not immediately thrown into the brig. Though now that I think about it, they both chose Roslin over Adama, though with Apollo it was more Democracy over Dictatorship and with Starbuck it was Faith over...Betrayal. I like that she's the religious one, and Apollo's having none of it. That his concerns are strictly political in nature.

I hope that Adama doesn't, as the final conversation between him and Tigh seemed to indicate, wed himself to Tigh's mistakes. I'm nurturing the hope that Ellen Tigh will trip over herself and end up falling into a latrine and then being flushed into space and that Tigh himself will be bitchslapped into submission by Dualla or Gaeta.

I do believe I've recced this before, but I just re-read the story that was written for me in musesfool's Take the House O11 challenge, and if you haven't read it and you have any interest in Rusty/Danny whatsoever, then I suggest you read it immediately. It's beautiful and you're taken along it's wandering roads just as Danny and Rusty are. It's perfect. It's called The Absence of Truth in Cartography and it's by angelgazing, and I've just reread for the ninetieth time, and I am wallowing in the happy good feeling it gives me. And wanting to share that feeling.

Katee Sackhoff and Romola Garai: seperated at birth?

Which reminds me: We've come to the 'Nifra begs like the petulant, spoiled child she is' portion of the post. Point me toward good Starbuck icons? I can't imagine why I don't have one of her mouth/shoulders/self. God, she's ridiculously hot.

Also, hi. *smiles sweetly* Would anyone out there have any idea where I could find an icon that's the robot from Iron Giant that says, "I, Vin Diesel"? I feel that I need this.

I am desperately bored, and nothing is writing itself. There's no magical fruit juice for that either, sadly enough. *sighs and pokes internets for entertainment*

Ease up on my poor Helo. He's had a rough week (actually he's had a rough couple of MONTHS). Protecting CapBoomer in 2.01,a nd more important, believing her story, followed by her apparent betrayal probably has him feeling pretty dumb. Maybe he's decided that being in love with him and being pregnant was a story she told to keep him from killing her, and given that she apparently ran the first chance she got, leaving him and Starbuck marooned on Caprica, doesn't exactly inspire confidence. And I loved the dramatic irony of Helo's speech about how he believes her being juxtaposed with the whine of the engines of her getaway craft.

Besides, every time he mopes about her out loud, Starbuck makes some crack about his toaster girlfriend from the genocidal family. Look at that scene in 2.02 where he was moping up a storm about how he'd fallen in love with her. Boy's got an incentive to mope silently from now, unless he wants to hear more jokes about the in-laws from hell and how dumb he was for trusting CapBoomer and believing her lies. Methinks he's trying to focus on survival and push the rest to the back of his mind because he can't deal with it. I figure CapBoomer will show up again soon, though, and we'll get more conflict.

I wish they were still doing those nth day on Caprica subtitles before the Caprica scenes like they did in Season 1. It was nice to be able to keep track of the passage of time. For example, I thought they had CapBoomer coming down iwth morning sickness way too early, but then I checked out the days on the various episodes, and they had sex the first time on Day 24 while she started getting morning sickness on Day 37. In other words, coming up on approx four weeks pregnant, and therefore not improbable that she'd start showing symptoms. Mind you, I'm still not entirely sure I'm crazy about this story, but I'll see how they play it. If any team can pull it off, Moore & Co. can.

Re: Starbuck and Cheap-Knockoff-Apollo-Stand-In, oh yeah, she'll do him. He may be a substitute, but the girl has needs. I love that BSG is showing a female character who is sexual, and sleeps with whoever she wants, and doesn't get shamed for it. The only person who engages in slut-shaming re: Starbuck's sexual choices is Apollo, who is hardly objective. Nobody else seems to think less of her for engaging in casual sex.
