sunflower - eloquentice

Horn of Plenty!

I am having a friend over for dinner tonight, and because I have nothing but time on my hands until next week, I am getting crazy about it. I've been considering and reconsidering the menu a million times, as though I had something to prove/was feeding someone who would judge me based on presentation, difficulty of dish and subtlety of flavor. But because I've been thinking about cooking all day I thought maybe I'd put a few recipes for non traditional salads up here. Because I love salads maybe more than I love other things -- or that's just my vegetable straved body craving the greens. Either way, man.

So. Top Fives!! I'm doing one from each requester at a time, so that I have more to do later!

(no subject)

More Top 5s tomorrow, but now, I have found another meme that everyone is doing, and I've always wanted to be one of the cool kids, so avast ye:

01. Do I have a distinct style of writing?
02. If so, what exactly is it that defines my style?
03. Would you say my stories follow a certain theme?
04. Is there anything you feel I ought to improve or change?
05. Does my style (if I have one) remind you of anyone else?
06. Judging from whatever writing of mine that you've seen, what do you think is/are my strength(s)?
07. What do you think are my weaknesses?

I have a pretty good idea of what my answer to those questions is, but I'm interested to see what y'all might think.

Cannibals and Sharon the Ostritch.

It turns out that maybe the Donner family didn't eat anybody. They did eat their pet dog Uno, but their wagon broke down and they didn't quite make it to the cannibal party. The things you learn.

Other things I have learned: murphy's oil soap leaves a really thick something or other on the wood, even after you mop it off as the directions say you should. I suppose that is to be expected, given the fact that it calls itself a 'laminating' soap.

And lastly, I'm watching the Discovery channel and it keeps blowing my mind. They do the coolest things! Now there's this professor and his undergrad assistant role playing as T-Rex and Triceratops, and it's blowing my mind that there's enough in a department budget to pay for an undergrand assistant to run around on a salt flat in a weird metal box, pretending to be a T-Rex to his professor's Triceratops.

Also? They've trained an ostritch to run on a treadmill. It's really funny.

How are you doing today, livejournals? Because I'm clearly still. bored. *sigh*
